Keratin treatments have become one of the most requested services in our salon, and for good reason. If you spend more time battling frizz than enjoying your hair, a professional keratin treatment could be the solution you have been looking for.
What Is a Keratin Treatment?
Keratin is a protein that naturally occurs in your hair. Over time, chemical processing, heat styling, and environmental exposure break down your hair's natural keratin, leading to frizz, dryness, and damage. A professional keratin treatment infuses your hair with a keratin-based formula that fills in gaps in the hair cuticle, creating a smoother, shinier, more manageable surface. The result is dramatically reduced frizz, enhanced shine, and styling time cut by up to 50%.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
Keratin treatments work well for most hair types, but they are especially transformative for clients with thick, coarse, or frizzy hair. If humidity is your enemy, if your morning routine takes longer than you would like, or if your hair feels rough and unruly despite using quality products, you are likely a great candidate. Keratin treatments can also benefit color-treated hair by sealing in color and adding smoothness.
There are a few situations where a keratin treatment may not be the best choice. Very fine hair can sometimes feel weighed down after treatment. Hair that is severely damaged may need repair treatments first. And some formulations are not recommended during pregnancy. Your stylist will assess your hair and discuss the best options during your consultation.
What to Expect During Your Appointment
A keratin treatment at Luxe Beauty Studio takes approximately 2-3 hours. Your stylist will begin by washing your hair with a clarifying shampoo to remove buildup and open the cuticle. The keratin formula is then applied section by section and combed through for even distribution. After processing, the treatment is sealed in with a flat iron. You will leave the salon with smooth, shiny, beautiful hair.
Aftercare and Longevity
Most keratin treatments last 3-5 months with proper care. For the first 48-72 hours after your treatment, you should avoid washing your hair, putting it in a ponytail, or tucking it behind your ears to allow the treatment to fully set. After that initial period, use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to extend the life of your treatment. The treatment gradually fades over time rather than growing out with a harsh line.
Is It Worth the Investment?
When you factor in the time saved on daily styling, the reduced need for anti-frizz products, and the confidence that comes with consistently great hair, most of our clients find keratin treatments to be one of the best investments they make in their beauty routine. Many of our keratin clients become repeat clients, scheduling their next treatment as soon as the effects begin to fade.
If you are curious about keratin, we invite you to schedule a consultation. We will assess your hair, discuss your goals, and help you decide if a keratin treatment is the right choice for you.
